Back to Knitting after Eye Surgery

I have had a hard time the last couple of weeks. I had cataract surgery and it is not setting well with me. I have bad eyesight and now it has gone wacky with changes. I will push on, so I won't have lots of posts till it gets better.

I have knitted a hat called Dorothys Hat that I tested on Ravelry.

Summer is Wonderful in Michigan

I haven't been posting cause of family matters but
I still take time here and there to do something with
fiber. This is my lovely Lennox spinning wheel made by Ken and BJ Lennox in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They were called Winsome Timber wheels and stopped production in 2006. The wheels are wonderful! Crazy as it seems, I bought this wheel in 2007 from a lady in Vermont. I am so thankful, cause I wanted this wheel so bad but I did not have the extra money to purchase before 2006. I know it was by the grace of God I found this wheel in Oak what I love plus double treadle. I also love the way it spins, heaven on Earth.

This is a sample of what I am working on now, it is red and black wool and a touch of white mohair. I love Bulky weight, so that is what I am spinning now.

I pray I can do some dying in the next couple of days so to have roving ready for winter spinning. I don't do dying of fiber in the winter for health reasons.

Scentsy Display

Last weekend I did a show to benefit Breast Cancer Research at beautiful place where they usually have wedding receptions and big events.

Laura Edwards and here whole crew did a wonderful job.

They sent this photo to me of my display. Those shiny things are the plug in warmers and warmers witht the lights on.

Another Super Hot Day

The weather is to hot! Today will be 90 or over, truly crazy for May, we haven't had this since July. This weekend is a fiber festival not far from here at Farm Girls It is a fun time for all.

I have to do embroidery today, early this morning or late this evening cause we don't have air conditioning

Hot Day in May

Things are going slow since my last posting. My back does not like me. The weather today is near 80 and dry, so in turn I feel a little better. Yes, this blog is about knitting, quilting, spinning and things of fiber. I just hate it when you can't do what you want to do.

Slow Going with Back Problems

I am having an awful time with my back, so bad I have to use a cane. My dear husband says, relax and don't get upset. I am doing that, all I can do is take it easy and lay down. Sorry I can't post anything interesting, please know I will try tomorrow.

Laid Off Again

I got the news, my husband will be laid off again. We will do OK,
just not easy. I am thankful I became a Scentsy consultant to help us out.

Knitting Socks Flat on My Back

I am not progressing very far, I have a bad back and it does not like me. I did get this much done laying flat on my back. Yes, socks are wonderful knitting flat on your back. I used the Wildfoote by Brown Sheep in my stash and also the 5-1/2" shorty needles I love for sock knitting. I will keep you posted on progress. I did not sleep much so I going to try again to get some rest.

Quilt Block finished

With the grace of God, I just finished a quilt block a
friend of mine needed for a special quilt they are making
at her school. It came out OK, I could not believe it still
had 26,000 stitches with it being applique. The finished block
size is 12-1/2" x 12-1/2".

I have a hat order today. While I am working a dear friend called
me in a pinch, wanted a quilt block in a pinch. Well,
I had a shirt on that was appliqued with a school house and I scanned a photo.
I show the results later....busy day, sunny day...

I have many family matters to deal with this week but little by little I am going to work on this Quilt! I pray everyone has a great week and do something creative. I am knitting and spinning here and there, I will post sometime soon but right now quilting is on the brain. Lord knows I need to get back to bond with my sewing machines (yes sewing machines). I have old machines, not the latest greatest, but for quilting all you truly need is a straight stitch machine.

Quilt Shop for one spool of thread, spent $90.00

I went to my favorite quilt shop, Quilted Memories, they are in Montague, MI Open Sunday, 1 to 5 pm. The trip is about 40 miles round trip, but it was a beautiful day, no sun (I hate driving in the sun), no rain and warm. I needed to drive, but not in traffic, I went the highway all the way with the radio blasting. I kept the speed at 60 mph to save on gas.

I only needed one spool of embroidery thread, for a special project. Yep, as you can see I bought more than thread! I can't resist when Jill starts showing me all quilts and fun things. I admit I have not been to a quilt shop since November 2009. Oh, I wanted to go but husband unemployed and more important things like the gas heating bill.

I bought the strip ruler by Cozy Quilt. It is called Strip Tube Ruler. Nice gizmo.

Than I bought a pack of bali 2-1/2 strips for a quilt called Tradewinds, the pattern is free

at the website, see the quilt above. OK, my quilt will be different colors, but when I get it done, I will show it off.

I bought a few other things, will tell you about later.

EQ7 coming June 2010

I love quilting! OK, knitting, crocheting and spinning, etc.

If you love computers and the wonders to help in design, EQ7 is the ticket.

I only have EQ5 but will upgrade to EQ7. I can't say enough about Penny and all at Electric Quilt. They have the best customer Service and help, no matter how goofy the question may be!

EQ is a wonderful tool for designing quilts. I use it for making my wrapping paper and forcard making. Yes, the graphics are the best and the designing is never ending.
